Great day for the campaign for Maryland 29C. Started the day by 'early voting' myself. Feels good to know that I have at least one vote - my own! Spent the afternoon in Leonardtown’s Chestnut Ridge neighborhood meeting future constituents.
Back in the Drum Point Neighborhood!
Drum Point Neighborhood
Hot, humid day in Calvert County, but that didn’t stop us from getting out, knocking on doors, and listening to concerns from our friends in Drum Point this afternoon.

Why I'm Running for Maryland State Delegate 29C
The BayNet - Tim Gowen On Why He’s the Best Choice For Delegate
"If you’re like me, you probably know 10, 20, 50 or more friends, family members, or co-workers who would do a better job leading than the people we read about every day on our phones, running our state and federal government. Most Americans today are not at all confident in the leadership ability of our elected officials and it’s time for that to change.
I’m Tim Gowen and I’m running for State Delegate because I’m concerned about poor leadership in our government and, like you, I want Southern Maryland to have the best leadership available representing us in the Maryland General Assembly."

Another great day getting out and meeting the folks in 29C. Yesterday we visited voters in the Woodland Park at Wildewood neighborhood of California. Weather was terrific and so were the people I had a chance to meet.

Revitalizing Lexington Park - Linda's Cafe Being Forced to Vacate
Linda’s Cafe has been in business in the same location on Lexington Park for 35 years. She has been informed by her landlord that she must vacate the property in order to make way for a new Royal Farms gas station/convenience store (right across from Pax River Gate 2). I’m for free markets, but do we really need another gas station/convenience store….there?!? There are already 4 others within a mile not to mention the 2 run down and vacated stations within less than 1/2 a mile of that location. I agree with Linda that Lexington Park, especially the area in that immediate vicinity, needs to be revitalized, not cleared out for more dollar stores, vape shops, or gas stations. Lexington Park needs a growth and revitalization strategy. I’ll be interested to hear what the St. Marys County Commissioners have to say about this on Monday. Will they provide the leadership necessary to institute an strategic growth plan for Lexington Park?
Honing my diplomatic skills in Belgrade, Serbia and Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, both former Yugoslavian countries. Met with Charg’e d’Affaires John Ginkel at the US Embassy in Serbia. Later in BiH held a bilateral meeting with Bosnian Defense Minister Sifet Podzic to discuss our continued partnership and the overall situation in Eastern Europe. Stopped in to visit Ambassador Mike Murphy at the US Embassy in Sarajevo. His team provided me a comprehensive country brief. Then, numerous activities with my friend Lieutenant General Senad Masovic’ culminating with a semi-formal dinner held in my honor at their BiH Army Hall. These are critical times for BiH and all former Yugoslavian countries. Proud to help them in their continued development and efforts to foster peace.
National Security Implications of War in Ukraine
Met today in DC with the current and former Ambassador from Estonia, Kristjan Prikk (current) and Jonatan Vseviov (former). Ambassador Vseviov is currently the MFA State Secretary. Estonia is one of the State Partners for Peace to the Maryland National Guard. Important conversation about the national security implications of the Ukrainian War, NATO, and the MDNG/Estonian partnership.

"Holiday" Gas Tax
Thanks to the Gas Tax "Holiday" Marylanders are spending 36 cents per gallon less on their gasoline for the next 30 days. Since the average American driver purchases about 12.5 gallons per week, that's about $20 less this month that we're spending on government. That's a good start!
Calvert County Cove Point
Had the chance to get out and meet about 100 voters today in Calvert County in the Cove Point neighborhood. The main issue everyone wanted to talk about: replacing the Thomas Johnson Bridge.
The adjutant general thanked The Patuxent Partnership for the “opportunity to brag about the Maryland National Guard,” which he did along with a recruitment call.
